  1. I have a 2005 BMW 325 (E46) with an automatic transmission and 90,000 miles of use. The transmission will no longer engage. The transmission would engage in drive mode and then gradually lose acceleration after 5 miles or so… and then nothing. I’d wait til the vehicle cooled and the acceleration would come back again. Now, I get nothing on acceleration. Question: Could this be a ‘clutch’ issue and instead of transmission-related issue? How can I tell which it is? Are there symptoms characteristic of each issue?
